Thakurgaon District Representative:
The mysterious death of a person named Safiqul Islam (44) after consuming gas tablets has been reported in Ranishankoil Upazila of Thakurgaon. The incident took place in Guchchagram of Padampur (Randhan Dighi) upazila on May 9 (Thursday) morning. Deceased Safiqul is the son of deceased Ramzan Ali of Padampur area of Islam Upazila.
Residents and witnesses said that Safiqul Islam was a very good person. He is not a suicidal boy. There may be a mystery in his death. He had been quarreling with his wife, son for quite some time and even his wife and son were seen beating him up. There were injury marks in different parts of his body. They think it is not suicide. Maybe the real mystery will come out in the police investigation.
However, his wife Rita Akhter and son Ridoy said that he died after taking tablets with poisonous gas. When he came home last night, when I told him to eat rice, he said he would not eat it and went to bed. If you feel a burning sensation in your chest at night, it means wrong. When he asked what happened, he said that I had taken a gas tablet. He immediately took to Upazila Health Complex.
Ranishankoil Upazila Health Complex Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Feroze Alam said that a comatose patient who had taken gas tablets came in the night. Seeing that his body condition was not good, he was referred to Dinajpur Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital at 11:30.
Ranishankoil Assistant Superintendent of Police Rezaul Karim and Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohel Rana said that after inspecting the spot, the body has been sent to Thakurgaon morgue for post-mortem. Legal action is pending.
