Savar Correspondent: RAB-4 has arrested Shahidul Islam Bidyut, the mastermind behind the murder of domestic worker Sumaiya Akhter who refused to agree to the proposal in Savar’s Ashulia.
Company Commander of CPC-2 Lieutenant Rakib Mahmood Khan confirmed the information on Wednesday (June 26) around 12 noon.
Deceased Sumaiya Akhter (24) is the daughter of Abdul Bari of Badarganj police station of Rangpur district. She lived on rent in Sohag’s house in Vadail Taltala area of Ashulia with her husband Masud Rana and 2-year-old daughter Maryam Akhtar. On the other hand, Shahidul Islam Bidyut (32), son of Abul Hossain of Vijaypur village of Lalpur police station of Natore district, was arrested. He also worked in a garment factory from rent in the same house.
According to RAB, on the afternoon of June 25, housekeeper Sumaiya Akhtar’s throat slit body was recovered from a rented house owned by Sohag of Taltala Mohalla in Vadale Purwapara of Ashulia. As soon as the news was received, a raiding team of RAB-4 reached the spot and the mastermind of the murder, Shahidul Islam Bidyut, was immediately arrested after uncovering the mystery of the murder. The sharp knife used in the murder was also recovered.
Lieutenant Commander Rakib Mahmood Khan also said that the preliminary interrogation of the arrested Shahidul and the incident report revealed that the victim Sumaiya Akhtar had been living on rent in a house in Taltala area of Bhadail Purpurpara of Ashulia along with her husband Masud Rana, a garment worker, and her 2-year-old daughter for the past one year. Shahidul, the tenant of the same house for a long year, came with a proposal, but Sumaiya, the housekeeper, rejected it. Enraged by this, Shahidul bought a knife for premeditated killing and entered the victim’s room in the absence of the victim’s husband on the afternoon of June 25 and killed Sumaiya by cutting her throat with that sharp knife. Legal action is pending against the accused arrested in the said incident.
